Our Natural Heritage

Found on the the  Mediterranean/Black Sea Flyway, which connects Europe with Africa, Malta is a 'land bridge' for some migratory birds.

Two Grade 8 classes were treated to a day at the BirdPark. This is because in an activity organised by their Grade Tutor, Ms. Elaine Bajada, they were the two classes that collected most pet food.  This was then donated to two animal carers – Pat from Noah’s Ark, who looks after abandoned dogs, and Rita, a cat carer who feeds about 200 cats from different areas in Malta.

At the BirdPark, they spent a very pleasant and enjoyable day away from the classroom, outdoors in the company of various animals. They were guided through the park by the very knowledgeable guides and they had a chance to observe the different habitats, many of which are actually found in Malta, in which birds and other animals may live. The children were also given a short talk about migratory species, as it is very common for wild birds to settle in the park for some time too.
