On the occasion of the World
Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, 21 st May, students of Grade 9 prepared short performances to give a clear message: "WE are all different but diversity is beautiful!" Diversity is what adds colour to this world making it interesting, creative and most of all united. As Antoine de ST. Exupéry (an aristocrat French writer, poet and pioneering aviator) said: " He who is different from me does not impoverish me - he enriches me."
Under the guidance of their teacher, Ms Lesley Nixon, these students have put a smile on their public's faces as they interpreted Japanese, French, Italian, Chinese accents and made us reflect.
In one particular performance, that took place at a restaurant, a client was refusing all the food that was presented to her because it was nothing like her 'normal' food. At the end she was forced to taste it and realised that it is indeed good and felt bad at how she treated the other waiters.
Other performances saw students with different cultures who met on a student exchange; another one included businessmen who all had different habits but at the end they all came up with one common idea for the benefit of all the members.
These performances will be shared with you during the coming weeks.
