FROM PISA TO MALTA, 22nd-26th NOVEMBER 2013

MALTA: A RICH EUROPEAN CULTURE IN 122 SQUARE MILES.

Malta has a surprisingly varied landscape: its small territory is packed with all the features to mark an European civilization. A grand baroque capital you can visit by and large in a very short time, set against the background of several minor towns the size of a village, with the expected extension of orderly countryside in between. So, when you are in the middle of an inland landscape, you might easily forget that the sea can never be really far away!

The wealth of Malta's heritage provides a wide, even more varied historical perspective, dating back to thousands of years ago. Here you can find monumental evidence of virtually every stage of the long and complex Mediterranean history, and, moreover,  you can find something you wouldn't expect so far from the Stonehenge circle and Normandy's dolmens: the amazing megaliths peculiar to this small archipelago, the oldest megaliths in the world.
