Welcome Mr President!

On the 23rd of March, the President of Malta, Mr George Abela visited our school. Among the activities held for this occasion,  an exhibition was set up by our Librarian, Ms. Lina Farrugia and a volunteer-helper, Ms. Mary Sturmeir. Through posters, the exhibition highlighted the different aspects of our Cultural Heritage.

It also included incredible art work done by our students under the guidance of their Art teacher,
Ms. Nadine Debattista Briffa. The aim was to observe the main characteristics of Maltese Landscapes such as rubble walls, prickly pears, windmills, churches etc. Students had to pay particular attention to the Maltese light with harsh contrast between dark and daylight. They experimented with different artistic media like acrylic paints, oil pastels, chalk pastels and ink according what they wanted to focus on:  either the detail in the architecture or to bring out the Mediterranean colours.
