Building bridges using the five senses

The Project 'Building Bridges Using the Five Senses' gives students the opportunity that will not only allow them to rediscover the Cultural Heritage of their own country but also the traditions of other countries involved in this project.
Primarily, the students shall take part in various activities to become familiar and understand the meaning of being a European Citizen.
Secondly, through the use of the five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste they will learn to appreciate the world they live in and see the way the other European friends view their own country. This shall be made possible during visits to well-known landmarks in their own country, which might or might not be familiar to them. Through this formal, non-formal and informal learning, students would see their own country with a new outlook.  Students will preserve these memories by putting the photos in an album.
Students shall be asked to prepare traditional dishes, local and foreign, recipes they would have either tasted or read about. From this experience and knowledge, students will also compile a recipe book. Students will also have the chance to enjoy the environment, observe and smell endemic species typical of the country.
Through a specific workshop students from different countries shall teach one another the important words in their mother tongue, making communication practical. These words or phrases will be compiled in a book entitled 'My First Words Book’.
Through drama, the students are going to put up performances dealing with messages such as "Being Different is Nice”, “Saying No to Racism” and “United as European Citizens”.
Thanks to the project blog we envisage to share the above and encourage communication in English, the main language of the project.
